And that “something big” was not a “sales event” by Toyota or Volkswagon or Nissan, either. 🙂 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3rVk9yWd0Q
I woke up as the sky began to lighten in the mid-November sky. I was shivering. But I wasn’t cold. And it wasn’t fear I felt, either. It was an anticipation that something was coming. Something big.

I thought you might appreciate my wry sense of humor (along with my disdain for the years of monthly “biggest event ever” automobile ads that have peppered the mainstream media)! One might think that a manifestation of Cthulhu was a routine monthly event. 🙂 P.S. https://cthulhuforamerica.com

What catches my attention (both in general and for purposes of creating a story) is this: “However, Bateson also emphasised that while double binds can be triggers for LIII, `even the attempt at LIII can be dangerous’ (1973:277), leading to psychosis instead of enlightenment It is again the projection of a hierarchical, goal orientated mind-set to see LIII as some kind of `holy grail’ of learning; it is not guaranteed to be either benign or transcendent. ” So, we have great potential for modern Frankenstein or Jekyll/Hyde type stories where the protagonist seeks an enlightening transformation but upon achieving it is perceived by others to be psychotic… …he becomes a “psychotic avatar.” 🙂

Now that is a great idea!

I think it might even make it from an idea to a theme. Here are two stories I can immediately think of that used it or something rather similar: (1) Altered States: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Altered_States and (2) The Dead Zone: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085407/ and http://www2.usanetwork.com/series/thedeadzone/ Anyway, seems like the theme is ready to be re-born / re-worked….

Haha, something like that. I can’t keep it straight. For a long time we were on DST, and then they stopped, but then they added it again. And they keep arguing about it. The people in my state are crazy.

I heard about the Indiana time zone thing years ago. I think it used to drive astrologers crazy, but now it just drives the guys who develop the astrology software crazy. The rest of us just use the tools to get our forecasts done and move on. (See, also: https://alabe.com )

LikeLiked by 1 person
Yes, though not as hot as Arizona. I think that Hell is probably hottest, then parts of the Middle East and Death Valley, then Arizona, and then Texas. I grew up in the “oil patch,” and I laughed when I lived other places and they thought it was “hot” when it was in the mid to upper 80’s. 🙂 Upper 90’s are common here. 100’s are not rare.

We have actually been having rain, which is VERY unusual for the Metroplex in the summer. (People here refer to the region as the “DFW Metroplex.” See, also: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dallas–Fort_Worth_metroplex )

It is. In a weird kind of Texas way it is like that Stephen King style “fog” (New England) that he talks about. Not necessarily fodder for a story, but it could be part of a story line. (I really like the Stephen King fog thing.)

He’s good with the fog. Definitely.

I like his idea, at least I think it is what he means, that when we see really heavy fog that surrounds us in all directions that we are at some kind of profound fork in the multi-verse where we can sorta “jump ship” into a different timeline. So, I suspect the same MIGHT could apply to a “sufficiently heavy” thunderstorm. I am talking about the kind of downpour where all the traffic on the Interstate pulls over except the truly insane people.

Me, too! I think it might somehow be a “short” night tonight. (Attempt early bedtime again.) Those New Moon / Full Moon posts require quite a bit of “juice” when I draft them. I was, but then one of my dogs woke me at 4:06 AM (5:06 your time). Been up for over five (5) hours but I think I will attempt a nap again. And, yep, it does take a bit of juice to do those. Many good ideas coming to me at this time, and a fair number are from you!

They are almost always a sign of REM deprivation (and are consequent to REM rebound) and maybe overall sleep deprivation. They are probably part of memory consolidation (apparently a debate exists about this, but I am on the “pro” side that thinks it is part of memory consolidation). That said, their content says much about what is “going on.” Mine had a character similar to Robert Kyosaki (“Rich Dad, Poor Dad”), and he was a serial entrepreneur trying to give me tips. He was very emphatic that much of the capital assets (chairs and tables in his restaurants) would wind up as unsalable junk and that “many people will steal from you.” Although he was a bit negative in these ways, he seemed to still be determined (persistent) after years of efforts. Needless to say, I think this is just part of my own psyche trying to warn me about what to expect but not to let that deter me or cause me to quit.

Nah. I think it is what I said: a lack of sleep / REM allowing expression of some inner part of me wanting to talk about “monetizing the blog.” It was a good message. Really, it was “just right.”

I call it a curse. But if I can monetize the blog(s) / my writing then I will not care. Enough money to have a good living (and retirement fund!) and it will not matter.

I think so, too. I really do. I keep having this feeling that it is “just around the corner.” Tonight I was in a Whole Foods market. They had an upstairs area for diners, and I saw a young lady (I am old enough to say that now) working on a laptop. It hit me that I could go hide there and focus myself to crank out publishable work. Maybe a short story a week to begin with and eventually one per day. If I could reach a point where I could produce a book of five short stories per week and make at least $1,000 (maybe several) from it….

That’s a very good idea. The key will be compiling enough ideas and content for those stories that will allow you to do it.

You mean like setting up a special blog and then reblogging a ton of content that serves as a repository of writing ideas, methods, and techniques. Hmm, that sounds like a GREAT idea!

Something. One place where you can compile all your different ideas.

Private archives, of course, probably either in Scrivener or Ulysses or some similar tool (maybe even an Access database; I have done that). But then there COULD be something like this: https://stillanotherwritersblog.wordpress.com

I use OneNote for everything, including plotting my books. I started using that before I was gifted scrivener and I actually prefer it. You can compile all sorts of information into one place that’s easy to navigate and see what you need at a quick glance. I didn’t like how I had to open each index card in scrivener to see my plot points.

Is this the online version of OneNote or the local version? I use Evernote for online capture (but not usually writing, my “day job” professional type captures). I have a variety of other tools, also. One tool I really like is WebResearch. But, it is truly overdue for an update. I have OneNote 2013, but was using 2010, they gave me a free upgrade. It’s quite useful. Evernote is okay, but it doesn’t give you versatility on notebooks to work with.

I like OneNote, too, but I probably have not used it as much as you. I certainly need to get “up to speed” for using it with online captures and compare it to Evernote. I am a bit of a “tools” junkie, and sometimes wonder which ones are “best” and what is the best way to use them. Have you ever used The Brain (https://www.thebrain.com) or XMind (https://www.xmind.net)?

2013 has a convenient Web clipper that works much the same as Evernote. Also, I received 2013 free since I had 2010 installed on my computer. I did a ton of research and developed a system for plotting novels. It’s worked like a charm every time. I’m considering making a free ebook with a bunch if info and tutorials (and free downloads of templates) about what I do with my plotting and writing. And no I haven’t used either of those, but I can definitely check them out!

I have added OneNote into my tools and blogging process (and improved my Evernote capture). (Thanks for the tips / ideas.) I like your e-book idea. And, also, this window of time (July / August of this year) is a VERY good time for writers to hone / develop / expand their skills. Some amazing careers (and people) will be born at this time.

It’s possible. I just know I wanted something to represent emotions (hence heartstrings) and for them to be mostly brief, so eulogies came to mind.
